Advantages
This is a light floor, quick and easy to erect. Stripping time is also reduced to a minimum.
Where long spans are required a saving is accured by the elimination of reinforced concrete beams that would be necessary with normal insitu construction.
Light load slab so foundations do not have to be underpinned Quick and Easy to install Cost Effective.
The polystyrene blocks are suspended on pre-stressed beams. Then a high tensile mesh is laid down on which electrical conduct can be laid on and tied to. A 55mm or 65mm layer of 25mpa concrete is then cast.
The amount of insitu concrete required is substantially reduced, resulting in savings in material and placing time.
Compelling reasons to specify EPS!
When it comes to insulation, here are 10 good reasons for using EPS
- Over the past six decades, EPS has become accepted world-wide as a safe, economical, and energy-saving form of building insulation.
- EPS is compatible with cement, concrete, brick, masonry, mortors, plaster and bitumen-based damp-proof membranes.
- EPS is lightweight and easy to work with, being supplied in moulded forms to required shape and size, or as large blocks for cutting into sheets and shapes.
- EPS is moisture-resistant and retains its thermal properties.
- EPS is rot-proof and durable. Correctly installed, EPS remains effective as a thermal insulation product for the duration of a building.
- EPS is fire-resistant. Type FR contains a flame-retarding additive.
- EPS is energy-saving and helps conserve energy usage in other areas, such as electrical heaters and open fires.
- EPS is environment-friendly, consisting of organic materials (primarily carbon and hydrogen), making it one of the most ecologically harmless products. It contains no CFCs and does not damage the ozone layer.
- EPS is easily disposable. Correctly incinerated, 100kg of EPS polystyrene leaves just 0.01 kg of ash, and the gases emitted are non-toxic.
- EPS is recyclable.
Whichever way you look at efficient insulation, EPS scores ten out of ten.
